Fibre cement and exterior insulation on a Verdun condo building
Complete replacement of an acrylic finish at the end of its life on the rear of a Verdun condo building, with exterior insulation added. 6 1/4 in. fibre cement in Charcoal Wood across three storeys, permit handled with the city. Seven days on site in the middle of winter.
The challenge
The rear wall let the cold through all winter, and that is what the owners wanted fixed first. The work itself took place in cold weather.
The alley left little room to manoeuvre materials and tools once on site, and jobsite waste management demanded tight organization.
Our approach
We handled the permit application with the city and the approval of the work, then went through material options with the owners while respecting the budget set at the start.
The old acrylic was removed, the structural sections inspected, then Isoclad insulation panels installed across the entire surface. The 6 1/4 in. fibre cement in Charcoal Wood was then installed with trim on every opening, right up under the balcony structure.
