This Laurentian chalet had weathered wood siding worn down by years of freeze-thaw cycles — inadequate insulation, declining thermal performance. Full demo, Isoclad BMR insulation, Canexel Dark Espresso. A chalet transformed from the ground up.
The challenge
The forest setting imposed significant logistical constraints: dense vegetation limiting access, sloped terrain and restricted workspace around the building.
The two-level chalet with large wraparound decks required elevated work with precision — exact cuts around railings, posts and windows, atypical angles on every facade.
Our approach
Full removal of the existing wood siding to inspect and correct the structure. MR.D air barrier membrane applied across the entire surface, followed by Isoclad BMR rigid insulation panels — a solid thermal barrier before cladding.
The Canexel Dark Espresso was then installed — clean cuts around every opening, white aluminum soffit integrated, corners and joints treated with care. Every detail for a weathertight envelope against Laurentian winters.
