Does the render colour truly match the product?
It comes close, but it is not exact. The render is there to validate a direction: dark rather than light, wood rather than grey. For the final shade, ask our estimator for a physical sample. A colour is judged on your façade, in your street’s light, never on a screen.
Is a dark colour a good choice in Quebec?
Yes, and it has become the dominant choice. Charcoal and black have led our projects for several years. Today’s products resist fading well. One nuance: on a heavily exposed south-facing wall, a dark shade heats up more, which has no consequence on a properly ventilated wall.
Which colour helps most at resale?
Mid greys, charcoals and warm beiges appeal to the widest audience. Highly saturated shades, like brick red or forest green, appeal to fewer buyers. If you plan to sell within five years, stay neutral and put the personality in the front door.
How do I match siding with the roof and windows?
Start from what you are not replacing. The roof and window frames set a palette: brown shingles call for warm tones, grey shingles for cool ones. Then pick a clear contrast for the trim. Contrast, more than the colour itself, is what creates the brand-new look.
Can two materials be mixed on the same house?
Yes, and it often gives the best result. Horizontal lap siding across most of the façade, with a vertical panel or stone at the entrance, gives the building structure. The rule: two materials, three at most, and only one star.
Canexel, fiber cement or steel, which should I choose?
Canexel delivers the wood look at a reasonable cost and remains the most installed product in Quebec. James Hardie fiber cement is non-combustible and warranted up to 50 years, at a higher budget. Steel offers a contemporary look and extreme durability. Our estimator helps you decide based on your budget and the building’s exposure.
My photo gives a strange render, why?
The usual causes are backlighting, a tight crop, or a façade partly hidden by a tree or a vehicle. Retake the photo from the sidewalk, on an overcast day or early in the day, with the whole building in frame. The result changes completely.
